It’s hard to believe that the 21st century is already 17 years old. Where has all the time gone? For most of us, our lives will have changed a lot during the last two decades. The same is true about conservatories. Gone are the days of leaky roofs and poor insulation. Modern advancements in technology mean that conservatories are now almost unrecognisable compared to in the year 2000. Both in style and performance, modern conservatories provide a great way to permanently extend your home.
At Falcon Installations, we’ve consistently stayed up to date with developments in conservatory design and manufacture. This month we’re sharing that knowledge with you. Here are five ways how modern conservatories are better than in the year 2000.
1. Solar control glass
Solar control glass features a special coating incorporated into the design. The coating allows sunlight to pass through while reflecting away a large amount of the sun’s heat. This helps to regulate the temperature of your conservatory keeping it cool during the Summer. It also works inversely. The double glazed unit helps to retain internal heat in the Winter, reducing your energy bills and creating a warmer home.
2. Lantern roofs
A lantern roof is a great way to allow natural light to flood into your conservatory. Lantern roofs are made to measure and are suitable for use in new conservatories and as replacement roofs in conservatories, orangeries, and flat roofed extensions. They add height to your internal space and provide excellent levels of energy efficiency.
3. Increased thermal performance
Modern conservatories provide far greater thermal performance than in the year 2000. The double glazed sealed units can be filled with argon gas to create an excellent insulating barrier. For the glass, low emissivity (Low-E) glass is the most energy efficient option. It features an invisible coating of metal oxide which lets light in and reduces heat loss. Modern conservatories are designed to enhance your home’s thermal performance and to meet increasingly strict Building Regulations requirements.
4. Loggia columns
Strengthen your conservatory and create a beautiful aesthetic with super insulated Loggia columns. Loggia columns can achieve U-values as low as 0.15 for excellent levels of insulation. Their internal finish can be plastered and painted creating a stylish and contemporary interior living space. The columns can be positioned in several places around the conservatory’s perimeter to suit your exact requirements.
5. Improved security features
Modern conservatories use the same high quality security systems used in windows and doors. At Falcon Installations, our conservatories feature five-point locking systems, internally beaded glass panes, and anti-pick locks. A modern conservatory also acts as an extra barrier between your home and the outside world. Houses with conservatories are considerably less likely to be burgled than those without.
